THERAPY SERVICES

Whether I am working with individuals, couples or adolescents, I offer my clients a deep-seated respect for the immediate urgencies of their lives, as well as for their long-term aspirations. With a well-seasoned background in contemporary depth-psychotherapy, I help my clients to recognize the underlying forces that shape and constrict their lives and to empower them to break out of the self-limiting eddies that they are caught in.

Not knowing the source of these powerful forces, or how to release oneself from their pull, can lead to disruption and suffering in one’s physical health, emotional life and intimate relationships. Often when people come to understand and accept the emotional and behavioral strategies they needed to devise to protect their vulnerabilities, they can then begin to risk creating new possibilities for life where none existed before.

Since every relationship is unique, therapist and client can never know precisely what psychological terrain they will encounter as they embark upon a new treatment. In a very real way, both take a leap of faith into the unknown when they start a treatment. Whatever the starting point of a therapy – and however it unfolds – I strive to convey a sense of what it feels like for each of my clients to be human while longing to become more fully human in my presence.

Together we learn to listen to the deeper stirrings and poetry of the self, allowing each client’s distinctive voice to find its own rhythm and phrasing.
